WEAVER, Harry Entered into
eternal rest on the morning of May 30, 2001, Harry Clay Weaver, husband of
Ruth Henry Weaver, residence, Charleston, S.C.
The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clay Weaver are invited to attend the funeral services of the former, Friday, June 1, 2001, at 2 o'clock, in First Baptist Church of Charleston. Interment, Lynhurst Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Thursday evening between 6 and 8 o'clock. Mr. Weaver was born June 12, 1916, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a retired radio station owner and broadcaster with WOKE radio station. He worked for the Knoxville Journal before he entered Radio Broadcasting. He bought Charleston station WHAN in 1955 and WOKE in 1958. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston. He served with the U.S. Army in WWII under General McArthur. He was past president of S.C. District Exchange, Charter member and past president of Coastal District. Lifetime member and past president of American Legion Post #10, past state President for S.C. Broadcasters Association, Lt. Col of State Guard Association of the United States. He is survived by his wife of Charleston, two daughters, Lynda Weaver Terrell of Spartanburg, S.C., and Kathryn K. Richards of Martinsville, Ind.; one sister, Jean Weaver Oliver of Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Carol Gibbs, Alison Davis, Kristen Overly, Erin Thompson, Jonathan Terrell, Bianca Richards, Ashley Richards and Nicholas Richards and eight great grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 48 Meeting St., Charleston, S.C. 29401. |
